The Clarifications Regarding Online Chinese Visa Application
On June 25, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal officially launched the online application system for Chinese visas. Here are the clarifications regarding certain issues recently raised by some applicants:
1. Regarding Visa Processing Time: The processing time for visa applications at the Embassy remains 2-4 working days, counting from the day the applicant physically submits their passport and other required documents at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Kathmandu. Please note that applicants must first submit their documents online (https://www.visaforchina.cn/KTM3_EN/qianzhengyewu) for preliminary review. Only after receiving the "Visa Application Certificate" notification email can they proceed to the CVASC to enter the formal Visa Application process.
2. Regarding the Review Period for Online Application Documents: The Embassy processes applications based on the order of online submission, not based on the applicant's intended date of travel to China. Therefore, applicants with urgent travel plans are advised to bring an internet-connected laptop, their passport, and other documents to the CVASC to request priority review. The CVASC will review upon your request for priority. Once the application is confirmed to be complete and error-free, it can enter the formal review process on the same day. If the documents submitted online are insufficient or contain errors, the CVASC will reject the application. The applicant must then supplement or correct the documents and resubmit them to re-enter the online preliminary review process. This may extend the overall review period.
3. Regarding Applying for a Chinese Visa from Outside Nepal: According to regulations, the Embassy only accepts Chinese visa applications from individuals physically present within Nepal. However, to facilitate eligible applicants from third countries, they may submit their online visa application for preliminary review before entering Nepal. After entering Nepal, they must then upload their valid Nepali visa and entry stamp online for further review.
4. Common Errors in Application Documents Mainly Include:
Uploaded documents are unclear (e.g., blurred or glared photo of passport data page, unreadable text).
Inaccurate or incomplete information in the application form (e.g., occupation, education history).
The applicant's name is missing from the name list of the invitation letter, or the information provided does not match the passport information.
The inviting unit stated in the “Invitation Letter for Tourist Group” does not match the unit issuing the itinerary.
Failure to upload an itinerary, or mismatched dates between the itinerary and flight tickets/hotel bookings.
Incorrect selection between Group Visa and Individual Visa.
Applicants are advised to check their email frequently after submitting the online application and to make prompt corrections to the application form or submit supplementary documents as required in the email notification to avoid delays in the review process.
This notice is hereby issued for your reference. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all applicants!
