Yes,it is compulsory to make appointment in advance and submit the application to the Visa Center during the period of  time as you appointed online. Please log into our official website (www.visaforchina.org), enter "Quick Access" and then click " Appointment" to make the appointment,and bring your appointment summary with you for the visit.
