Special Arrangement in times of Tropical Cyclones and Rainstorms

 

In the case of the following situations, the collection date will be postponed to the next working day. Please plan ahead regarding your visa application.

Please refer to the public announcements through radio and television for the latest information of the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or higher, or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal when is in force.

 

A)  Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or Higher

1.    If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or higher is issued outside office hours, services at our Center will be suspended while the warning signal is in force;

2.    If the Warning Signal No. 8 or higher is issued during office hours or announcement made by the Hong Kong Observatory Signal No.8 will be hoisted within the next 2 hours, services at our Center will be suspended; but, will continue to serve all attending public present.

3.    If the warning signal No. 8 is lowered or cancelled before 12:00, the services will be resumed in 2 hours;

4.    In case the warning signal is lowered or cancelled after 12:00, the services will remain suspended for that day.

 

B)  Black Rainstorm Warning Signal

1.    If Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued during office hours, the services will continue until the close of business.

2.    If Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued outside office hours and released after 12:00, the services will be suspended for that day.

3.    If the warning signal is subsequently cancelled, the same service resumption arrangement for Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or higher as stated above will be adopted.

 

For applicants who have made an appointment for an application but the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or higher) or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued, you have to make another appointment. If necessary, after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or higher) is cancelled or lowered to No.3 or below, or the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is cancelled, you may bring along the appointment slip (via internet appointment) for alternative arrangement.
