Important Notice for Capturing Fingerprints and Payment Procedure Changes
As of May 3rd 2018, the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Edinburgh (hereinafter referred to as ’Visa Application Centre’) will capture some applicants’ fingerprints on behalf of the Chinese Consulate with Chinese Law and regulations.

Applicants, who are aged between 14 to 70 inclusive applying for Chinese resident visa (D), work visa(Z), long-term study for over 180 days(X1), Visiting family members or family reunion for more than 180 days (S1or Q1), resident journalist visa(J1), or 5-10 years visa, are required to to submit the application in person at the Visa Application Centre. Further information on capturing all applicants’ finger prints will be announced at a later time.

Additionally, all applicants will need to make the payment of all fees when lodging visa application at Visa Application Centre. Fees will not be refunded should the visa application be declined, refused or in any way changed by the Chinese Embassy or Consulates.

Please note that all postal applications need to include a payment authorization form when mailing all the documents. If the applicant’s fingerprints are required to be captured, the Visa Application Centre will contact the applicant by email or phone. The processing time begins from the day finger prints are captured at the Visa Application Centre. Fees will not be refunded should the visa application be declined, refused or in any way changed by the Chinese Embassy or Consulates.

Please note that you should be the person leaving the fingerprints under your application.The Chinese Border may block those visitors if their fingerprints do not match.
