VISA DOCUMENT’S GUIDEDANCE – WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

1. Basic Documents


(1)   Passport

Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and with at least two blank visa pages and a photocopy of the passport's data page.

(2)   Visa Application Form and Electronic Photo

Please complete the Visa Application Form in the online “application form model” and upload your electronic photo (click to check the rules for photos), then print the Visa Application Form and sign by following the tips.

(3) 1 st Physical photo size 33x48mm in color w. white background adhering to photo requirements as shown in above link.

(3) Proof of legal stay or residence status (only applicable for non-local applicants)

If you are not applying for the visa in your country of citizenship, you must provide the original and photocopy of your valid certificates of residence (population record extract from Swedish Tax Agency) or visa of stay, employment or student status, residence permit and/or other valid certificates of legal staying provided by the relevant authorities of the country where you are applying.

(4)* Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas. (*This section is only applicable for those who previously were Chinese citizens and have now obtained foreign citizenship)

If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you should provide your former Chinese passport in original and a photocopy of its data page. (If you can't provide the previous passport, please provide a written statement for the Embassy’s further review.)

If you have obtained Chinese visas before you should also present a photocopy of a previous Chinese visa held each time applying for a new one 

 If your name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, you must provide an official document of name change).

(5) For applicants under 18 years old with one or both parents being or having previously been Chinese citizens. When applying for Chinese visa the first time need to provide a) passport copy of both parents; b) stamped and signed Certificate of Kinship “Familjebevis” in original from Swedish Tax Agency; c) a photocopy of the permanent residence permit of the parent(s) being or having previously been Chinese citizen.


2. Supporting Documents

  

Tourist Visa (L)


Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip), proof of hotel reservation and a travel plan on a separate paper.  / Or


An Invitation Letter for Tourist issued by a relevant unit or individual in China, etc. An issuer of invitation letter who is an individual in China should also provide a photocopy of his/her Chinese ID. If the issuer is a foreign national living in China, he/she should provide a copy of his/her valid residence permit and passport data page


The invitation letter should contain: 

a) Applicant information (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, passport number);

b) Information regarding the planned visit (incl. purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to visit, relationship between the applicant and the inviting entity or individual, and financial source for expenditures during the stay in China);

c) Information on the inviting entity or individual (incl. name, contact telephone number, address, stamp, and signature of the legal representative or individual).

(Flight booking record should always be presented together with individual invitation letter.)



Exchange Visa/Official Visit (F)


An official invitation letter issued by a relevant unit or individual in China. The invitation letter should contain:
(1) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, etc.);

(2) Information regarding the planned visit (incl. purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relationship between the applicant and the inviting party, and details of any financial support to be provided during the stay in China);

(3) Information of the inviting party (incl.name, contact telephone number, title, address, stamp, signature of the legal representative or individual). 


Other supporting Documents (if applicable):  Letter of Duly Authorized Unit or Confirmation Letter of Invitation issued by relevant Chinese entities.



Business Visa (M)


(1) Documents concerning commercial activity issued by a trade partner in China, or trade fair invitation, etc. 

The invitation letter should contain:

a)Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, etc.); 
b) Details of the planned visit (incl. purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relationship between the applicant and the inviting party, details of any financial support to be provided during the stay in China 
c) Information of the inviting party (incl.name, position, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or individual).


Other supporting Documents (if applicable):  Letter of Duly Authorized Unit or Confirmation Letter of Invitation issued by relevant Chinese entities.


(2) Applicants who have obtained M- visas more than twice over the previous two years or have a certificate of investments in China, a business license or other documents, may apply for a multiple-entry M-visa valid for half a year or one year, but the applicants must provide photocopies of the aforementioned visas or relevant documents.

 
 

Family Reunion (Q1)


For family reunion, the following documents are required: 
(1) an invitation letter provided by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a Chinese permanent residence permit.  The invitation letter should contain:
a) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.);
b) Information regarding the visit (incl. purpose of visit, intended arrival date, intended place(s) to stay, intended duration of stay, relationship between the applicant and the inviting party, details of any financial support to be provided during the stay in China);
c) Information of the inviting party (incl. name, contact telephone number, address, signature of individual).

(2) Photocopy of Chinese ID or foreign passport and permanent residence permit provided by the inviting party.
(3) Original and photocopy of certification showing the relationship of family members between the applicants and the inviting parties (marriage certificate, birth certificate, family certificate/”familjebevis” or notarized certification of kinship). If you choose to submit the family certificate from Skatteverket (familjebevis), an original one with signature and stamp is required. 
"Family members" refers to spouses, parents, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, granddaughters and parents-in-law.

For foster care, the following documents are required:
(1) Original and photocopy of the natural parents’ or guardians’ passports, as well as the notarized and authenticated certification showing the relationship between parents or guardians and children.
(2) Foster entrusted notarization issued by Chinese Embassies/Consulates General in foreign countries or Foster Care Power of Attorney notarized and authenticated in the country of residence or in China;
(3) A letter agreeing to foster care issued by the trustee living in China who has agreed to provide foster care services and photocopy of the ID of the trustee.
(4) A photocopy of the certificate indicating the parent(s) resided abroad when the child was born, providing that either or both parents of the child are Chinese citizens.

Family Visit (Q2)


(1) An invitation letter provided by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a Chinese permanent residence permit. The invitation letter should contain: 
a) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.);
b) Information regarding the visit (incl. purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relationship between the applicant and the inviting party, and details of any financial support to be provided during the stay in China);
c) Information of the inviting party (incl.name, contact number, address, signature of individual).

(2) Photocopy of Chinese ID or foreign passport and permanent residence permit provided by the inviting parties.



Family Reunion (S1)


Applicants who are going to visit their relatives residing in China and intend to stay for more than 180 days need to provide: 
(1) A photocopy of the inviting party’s passport and residence permit.
(2) An invitation letter that contains:
a) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, etc.);
b) Information regarding the visit (incl. purpose of visit, intended arrival date, intended place(s) to stay, intended duration of stay, relationship between the applicant and the inviting party, and details of any financial support to be provided during the stay in China);
c) Information of the inviting party (incl. name, contact telephone number, address, signature of individual).
(3) Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, family certificate/familjebevis or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between the applicants and the inviting parties. If you choose to submit the family certificate from Skatteverket (familjebevis), an original one with signature and stamp is required.


"Relatives" refers to spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18, parents in law.


Accompanying family members applying together with applicants of Z-Visa or X1-Visa need to provide: 
(1) A photocopy of the application documents of Z-Visa or X1-Visa.
(2) Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, family certificate/familjebevis or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between the applicants and the inviting parties. If you choose to submit the family certificate from Skatteverket (familjebevis), an original one with signature and stamp is required.

"Relatives" refers to spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18, parents in law.

Family Visit/Private Affairs (S2)


For visiting family members for up to 180 days, the following documents are required: 

(1) A photocopy of the inviting party’s passport and residence permit.

(2) An invitation letter containing:

a) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, etc.);

b) Information regarding the visit (incl. purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relationship between the applicant and the inviting party, and details of any financial support to be provided during the stay in China); 

c) Information of the inviting parties (incl. name, contact telephone number, address, signature of individual).

(3) Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, family certificate/ “familjebevis” or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between the applicants and the inviting parties. If you choose to submit the family certificate from Skatteverket (familjebevis), an original one with signature and stamp is required.

  

"Family members" refers to spouses, parents, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, granddaughters and parents-in-law.


For private affairs, documentation identifying their nature should be provided.



Work Visa (Z)


One of the following approval documents:
(1) Notification of Foreigners Work Permit in China issued by the Chinese government authority for Human Resources and Social Security; 
(2) Permit for Foreign Experts Working in China issued by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts; 
(3) Letter of Invitation to Foreigners for Offshore Petroleum Operations in China issued by China National Offshore Oil Corporation; 
(4) Registration certificate of the resident representative office of foreign (regional) enterprises issued by related administrative department of industry and commerce; 
(5) An approval document for commercial performance issued by Chinese government authority for Cultural Affairs (only applicable to applicants for commercial performances in mainland China) and Short-Term Work Permit (if applicable).

Holders of Z-Visa must apply for a residence permit from the immigration department of the local public security authority in the place intended to stay within 30 days of entry to China.

  


Study Visa (X1/X2)


(1) Original and photocopy of Admission Notice issued by a school or other entities in China;
(2) Original and photocopy of “Visa Application for Study in China” (Form JW201 or Form JW202) issued by Chinese relevant authorities (Applicable for X1 Visa)


We kindly remind you that:
Holders of an X1-Visa must apply for a residence permit from the immigration department of the local public security authority in the place intended to stay within 30 days of entry to China.



Journalist Visa (J1/J2)

An official letter issued by the media organization for which the journalist works

Applicants must contact the press section of the Chinese Embassy/Consulate General or the relevant press authorities in China in advance and complete relevant approval formalities.

Holders of J1-Visa must apply for a residence permit from the immigration department of the local public security authority in the place intended to stay within 30 days of entry to China.


Crew Visa (C)


A letter of guarantee issued by a foreign transport company or an invitation letter issued by a relevant unit in China



Transit Visa (G)


An onward air (train or ship) ticket with confirmed date and seat to the destination country or region



Permanent residence (D)


The original and photocopy of the Confirmation Form for Alien Permanent Residence Status issued by the Ministry of Public Security of China.

Holders of a D-Visa must apply for a residence permit from the immigration department of the local public security authority in the place intended to stay within 30 days of entry to China.



Foreigner of High Talent or Specialist (R)


Relevant certificates and documents provided by high-level talents and personnel with special skills urgently needed by China, who meet the relevant requirements of China's competent departments.

  


3. Special Notes


(1) The invitation letter may be in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout, but the consular officer may require the applicant to submit the original of the invitation letter. An issuer of invitation letter who is an individual in China should also provide a photocopy of his/her Chinese ID. If the issuer is a foreign national living in China, he/she should provide a copy of his/her valid residence permit and passport data page.

(2) If necessary, the consular officer may require the applicant to provide other proof documents or supplementary materials, or require an interview with the applicant.

(3) The consular officer will decide on whether or not to issue the visa and on its validity, duration of stay and number of entries in light of specific conditions of the applicant.
