Notice on updates of the visa policy


A. Starting from 13th June 2022, the following groups of applicants can apply for a visa at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Bern:


1. The applicant who has been approved by the relevant authorities in China and is going to work in China can apply for a work visa. Please provide a valid Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit (or original copy of Work Permit for Foreigners).


2. The family members of the applicant who are resuming employment in China (including foreigners have already been working in China) can apply for a family reunion visa or a visit visa with a proof of relationship. The family members category is limited to spouses, parents, children under the age of 18 and parents-in-law. The required materials include the work visa holder's passport and residence permit in China, the invitation letter issued by him/herself, proof of relationship and other materials required by the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland.


3. Relatives of Chinese citizens (and foreigner with permanent residence in China) The above mentioned relatives  can apply for a family reunion visa. The required materials include the identity card of the Chinese citizen (or foreigner with permanent residence in China), an invitation letter issued by him/herself, proof of relationship and other materials required by the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland.


4. In principle, the applicant should be vaccinated with approved vaccines by China or World Health Organization before entering the country. Continue to implement the relevant facilitation arrangements for people who have taken Chinese vaccines  (including the third booster).


B. Business hour (starting from 27.Jun,2022)

Visa application: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (09:30 to 13:30) 
Please reserve the appointment on our website.

Legalization application: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (09:30 to 13:30) No appointment is needed.


C. Collection:
Regular Service: one week after application / Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (09:30 to 15:00)

Express Level 1: next working day / Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (10:00 to 15:00)

Express Level 2: two working days / Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (10:00 to 15:00)
