Starting from 17th May 2021, the consular legalization applications should be submitted to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Bern (hereinafter referred to as 'Visa Center'). Please read the following information:
1. Business hour for legalization application
Legalization application service: Tuesday (from 10.00 am to 13.00 pm)
No appointment is needed.
2. Scope of legalization of the documents
The Chinese Embassy in Switzerland entrusts Visa Center to provide the legalization of documents issued by the Swiss government and institutions of Switzerland, which the documents are intended to be used in China. Relevant documents must be authenticated by the Legalization Office of Swiss Federal Chancellery before coming to our Visa Center for the consular legalization.
3. Materials required to apply for legalization
Materials required for civil legalization:
(1) Legalization application form filled truthfully, completely and accurately (Signature must be a manuscript)
(2) Original and photocopy of the document authenticated by the Legalization Office of Swiss Federal Chancellery
(3) Photocopy of the legalized seal page of the Legalization Office of Swiss Federal Chancellery (4) Chinese translation of the documents (translation does not need to be notarized)
(5) Photocopy of the applicant's passport or valid identity document
(6) Original and photocopy of the agent's passport or valid identity document (request for another person)
Materials required for commercial legalization:
(1) Legalization application form filled truthfully, completely and accurately (Signature must be a manuscript)
(2) Original and photocopy of the document authenticated by the Legalization Office of Swiss Federal Chancellery
(3) Photocopy of the legalized seal page of the Legalization Office of Swiss Federal Chancellery (4) Chinese translation of the documents (translation does not need to be notarized)
(5) Photocopy of the applicant's passport or valid identity document
(6) Original power of attorney is issued by the company (with company’s letterhead or official company stamp)
(7) Original and photocopy of the agent's passport or valid identity document (request for another person)
4. Schedule of Fees
The Visa Center charges legalization fees on behalf of the Embassy and the service fees. Please click Legalization Fee for details
**All fees must be paid after submitting the application within business hours on the same day. If the application is not approved or processed in accordance with the regulations, all the fees will not be refunded.
5. Division of Consular Districts of the People's Republic of China in Switzerland
Consular districts of the Chinese Embassy in Bern:
Bern, Geneva, Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Uri, Obwalden, Nidwalden, Freiburg, Solothurn, Vaud, Wallis, Neuchâtel, Jura, Tessin.
Consular districts of the Consulate General in Zurich and the Principality of Liechtenstein:
Zürich, Luzern, St. Gallen, Aargau, Graubünden, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, Glarus, Zug, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Thurgau, Fürstentum Liechtenstein.
6. Note
(1) Documents required for legalization must be true and legal, and must not contain any content that harms China and the public interest of society. Legalized documents cannot be changed or replaced. Any problems and legal liabilities arising from the applicant's own modification or replacement of documents shall be borne by the applicant.
(2) If the document for legalization exceeds two pages, it should be sealed with fire-resistant paint or stamped with a joint seal or stamped (each page) and bound into a book to ensure the integrity of the document. Failure to meet the requirements will not be accepted.
(3) The Visa Center may require applicant to provide other materials deemed necessary by the Embassy.
(4) The Visa Center is only responsible for the legalization acceptance work and does not participate in the legalization approval process.
