Notice on Temporary Exemption of Collection of Biometric Data (Fingerprints) for Short-Term Visa Applicants

To further facilitate visa applicants, visa offices of Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in India will extend the temporary exemption of biometric data (fingerprints) collection to visa applicants eligible for all short-term single or double entry (staying for no more than 180 days). The exemption period is from September 2, 2024 to December 31, 2025.

 

Besides these who are temporarily exempted from fingerprint collection, applicants below are also exempted from biometric data (fingerprints) collection:

1. Applicants under the age of 14 years or above 70 years.

2. Applicants already had fingerprints collected within the past five years at Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Mumbaiusing the same passport.

3. Applicants with allfingers mutilated or uncollectible.

 

By our policy, applicants who could be exempted from biometric data (fingerprints) collection could authorize agents or agencies to submit for them. Applicants whose biometric data (fingerprints) must be collected have to visit the centre by themselves for live photo and fingerprint collection.
